Creative Commons to GPLv2
A community code auditor recently pointed out that the aprslib library Direbox uses to parse AX.25 frames is GPLv2 licensed and incompatible with our current Creative Commons license.
As such, Direbox is now licensed under GPLv2!
This change of licensure status is reflected in the Docs > License page and will also be reflected in the v0.24 release's LICENSE.md
file.
As a result of the shift to purely Free Software, we will no longer be distributing source code online to non-paying users of Direbox. Paying customers maintain all rights outlined in the GPL license, including access to the source code on every Direbox image file.
Share and modify as you choose. Get operators on the air. We only ask that if you do like Direbox and acquired it gratis, you consider purchasing the hardware or SD card from us to keep the project funded.
If you are a developer and would like access to the Git repository outside of the Direbox image file, please get in touch and we'll hook you up ;)
